Aaron Weah

A member of the Africa Transitional Justice Research Network and adjunct lecturer at the Kofi Annan Institute for Conflict Transformation (KAICT), University of Liberia.

Formerly, he served as Country Director for Search Common Ground Liberia (Search) or Talking Drum Studio and Programme Associate for the New York- based International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICT) in Liberia.

Through his many years of work with Liberian civil society, he worked closely with Liberia Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), victims’ communities and Liberia Massacre and Survivors Association (LIMASA).

He has written and published in notable academic journals including International Journal of Transitional Justice (Oxford University Press) and International Review of the Red Cross.

Recently, he won the Ulcer University’s Vice Chancellor Research Award and started his PhD studies in early January 2020. His PhD focus is on Transitional Justice in Liberia and his dissertation research is entitled: “Investigating Local-Practices of Memorialisation in Liberia: Examining Sites of Memorials and Massacres from 1979 to 2017”.
