Women’s Amendment Act Repeal Rendered Non-viable

The Gambia National Assembly has voted down all the clauses of the proposed bill to repeal the Women’s (Amendment) Act, making the bill null and void.

What an incredible win for the women of The Gambia, for women everywhere!

There are still deeply rooted structures within our societies that undercut the rights of girls and women. The fact that the bill to repeal the Women’s Act was even up for consideration shows us how far there still is to go.

But with each victory, with each new stride we get closer to justice.
